The original owners who constructed the property at 1250 Robin Hill Road were Morris & Rae Cooperman in the late 1930s as a summer/vacation home. Dr. Morris Cooperman was a noted Philadelphia specialist in orthopedic surgery. He was the Chief of the orthopedic departments and Mt. Sinai and Northern Liberties hospitals as well as an assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvanias graduate schools department of orthopedics. The original building is a simple Arts & Crafts bungalow, sited facing southwest to take advantage of the views down to Ridley Creek. Constructed of a fieldstone foundation and a cedar shake clad exterior with dormered windows and exposed rafter tails on the 2nd floor, its original intent as a cozy place of respite from the rigors of city living still exists today.
